Raymond Herr, MD, MS, CCHP
Dr. Raymond Herr is the Associate Medical Director for CHM. Dr. Herr's work experience includes working for Kaiser Permanente in their primary care department and an extensive work history in emergency medicine including work at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, the emergency department of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ, and serving as the civilian Medical Director of the former Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO.
In the 1990s, Dr. Herr served as medical director at the Arapahoe County Jail and the Aurora City Jail and is currently the medical director at Jefferson County Detention Facility and the Broomfield County Jail.
Community volunteerism is very important to Dr. Herr and he has given his time to a number of organizations including Family Tree shelter, Samaritan House, Women in Crisis shelter, Denver Big Brothers, and serving as volunteer physician for local high schools and the US Ski Team. In 1992, he worked as temporary physician staff for the Indian Health Services on the Havasupai Reservation in Arizona.
Dr. Herr was an Adler Scholar Award winner at the University of Colorado Medical School. He served as Chief Resident while training at the University of Arizona. He received the Service Excellence Award in Emergency Medicine at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry at Colorado College and received his medical doctorate degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed a clinical preventive medicine program at the University of Arizona and simultaneously did a masters degree in exercise physiology. He completed a Sports Medicine and Faculty Development fellowships prior to leaving the University of Arizona and returning to Colorado to join Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Herr is board certified in Preventive Medicine. He is a member of the Society of Correctional Physicians.
